Kind of hoping Patty retires. Sentimentally I would like him to stay but his risk of another injury is too great as he just doesn't seem able to stay healthy. Would rather use the salary dollars on 2 younger players with upside and future potential |

Elias has invaluable experience... he's not the player he once was, but if he's gone, what other exemplars do you have on the team?
None. I "think" he's the only one who's won a cup... he's certainly the only one who's played a significant role in winning one.
Seeing as this team has cap space and plenty of room up front. Shero has to understand that players teach culture and Elias has a winning one to pass on.
One year of Jagr in Florida and they win their division... take the hint, Shero... Elias is a solid vet and mentor and he's already on your doorstep.

We have so much cap room, this is not an issue at all. Unless by "younger players" you mean Stamkos and somebody else. |

I'm pretty sure he means saving room for Farnham and Tootoo. |

You're all out to lunch we are saving it for Rod Pelley |

Certainly seems like there is enough cap space and we aren't exactly overflowing with talent that there is no room for Elias.
On the other hand the Devils did just pay him $ 5.5 million dollars to play in 16 games this year... |

Free agents, trades for young RFA's, offer sheets etc. Guys who are under 30 with potential. Or perhaps maybe a "player" from Russia?

We'll call that owesies. There's no reason why they can't do a one year 2.5-3 mil contract. They have the cap space and roster spots. poop we may even have to pay him more than that to get to cap floor. |

We should really have a bracket for this group.
Stars in 5
Hawks in 7
Ducks in 6
Kings in 7
Caps in 7
Pens in 6
Panthers i n 6
Bolts in 7
Having a hard time picking Chicago or Washington to win it all. Both teams are deep, chicago's d is weaker than last year, but they know how to win. I think kings/hawks will go 7. Pens/caps will go 7 too. My bracket has wash in 7, but I'm gona switch to Hawks. |

1 year, 1 million. Maybe 2 mill at the most. He's simply not worth anymore than that. When you get a bargain bin deal on a guy like stempniak for 1/850k, there's no way shero is going to be offering patty much more, and deservingly so at this point in his career. |

Judging on how teams have been performing... the finals should be Penguins over Blues...
I think it'll probably end up being Penguins over Hawks...
